Materials
We carefully select the finest components for your project. For most frames, we use kiln-dried alder hardwood primarily sourced in Oregon. Other applications require pine or maple. Quality 0.75” plywood is utilized to create specific shapes. Our frames are meticulously constructed with glue, staples, and robust blocking. We never compromise on quality by using cheaper wood alternatives like MDF or other fragile pressboard.
Our seat springs are sinuous wire, tailored to the specific piece, while the backs are supported by either webbing or springs, depending on the style. Foam cushion cores are always wrapped with fiber and feature a minimum 2-pound density of high-resilience foam, available in various levels of firmness to suit your project. For special applications or upon request, we can incorporate laminated cushions or down. Back pillows can be made from fiber or foam, and we always line loose fiber back pillows to ensure quality and durability.
Environmental Sustainability
We offer non-polyurethane foam and can source wood for frames that meet FSC standards. Our fabric selections include offerings from all the well-known names, many of which provide eco-friendly products. We always strive to source materials from environmentally conscious companies. As a Northwest-based regional factory, we significantly reduce the transportation component of our carbon footprint compared to shipping products from the East Coast. Additionally, we recycle 100% of our foam and cardboard waste.
At Madison, environmental sustainability is a priority. We would be delighted to collaborate with you to produce your products in the most environmentally friendly manner possible.
Wood Finishes & Laminates
Custom Finishes
If you require a non-standard finish, we utilize a color matching system to align with laminates or other stain colors used in your project. Simply provide us with the name of the laminate or a sample of your case goods finish, and we will ensure a precise color match. We also maintain a record of the stain number for future duplication. For multi-colored laminates, we will aim to match the middle of the color range or follow your specific direction on how to achieve the desired color.

Due to variations in screen displays, finishes shown here may not match actual finishes exactly. These images are for color reference only. If you require an actual wood sample please contact us.

Fabric Information
How much COM yardage will my piece require?
Several factors influence our fabric recommendations, including pattern match and pattern direction. All our fabric layout is meticulously planned using CAD software, allowing us to optimize cloth usage and minimize waste. At Madison, we often suggest ordering just the right amount of fabric, as determined by the pattern requirements, ensuring neither excess nor shortage. This approach is particularly effective when the fabric is readily available. We are committed to minimizing fabric waste, regardless of the purchaser.

Selecting more than one fabric?
When selecting multiple fabrics for a single piece, please specify the placement of each fabric. Additionally, inform us if you require welt/piping on the piece and the fabric to be used for the welt.
